Interesting. I enjoyed watching that. To me, Dylan looked at his coolest in that period of the early seventies- very mellow & laid back. Quite different to the hyper Dylan of the Sixties!

No, you´re not the only one who likes the original Self Portrait. There used to be a great guy called Il Duce here who liked it too. Sadly, Il Duce died of a heart attack about a year ago. MB dedicated a thread to him somewhere ...

My attitude to Self Portrait, btw, is the same as my attitude to The White Album; if they had been ruthlessly cut down to single albums, they would´ve sounded better I think.

TBH, I would really recommend that you work on that "EDIT" function, Taxman, because three-in-a-row multipe posting of one- and two-line posts, if it´s not against MB rules, is certainly against MB etiquette.

Anyone else read Chronicles? I'm reading it right now. I love how little Bob cares about people's expectations of his autobiography - he barely discusses politics at all but talks loads about literature, he spends a bloody massive chapter talking about the recording of Oh Mercy and then only dedicates one sentence to my favourite Dylan album(Blood On The Tracks, 'I wrote an album based on Chekhov's short stories').

Yes, I enjoyed reading Chronicles too, but as you say, there´s something frustrating about his focus, and the things he leaves out. I seem to remember pages spent describing how he stayed in someone´s NY apartment for a few days...

But tbh, after attempting to read Tarantula, the most wonderful thing about Chronicles is how easy it is to read!

I should try to read chronicles too, but nobody has translated them into Finnish and well, the question is, how easy they are to read, knowing they are by Bob. Probably I'm able to read them anyway but I'm a bit unsure. But I'll try.
