International music (in general)

I bought a cd from a band N.O.T from Poland a few years ago. I ordered it off a music store located in Poland, so it took a bit more time and translation

but a lot I could make out.

That's nice somebody enjoy polish language too

Than I think I can recommend polish female siger Gaba Kulka. She is little bit inspired by Tori Amos and Kate Bush, sings in english and polish.

Now something from another genre and from my country

Here is one czech (moravian) folklore band that I enjoy - Tomáš Kočko & orchestr.

And also one metal band - Silent Stream Of Godless Elegy
They were doom metal but now it's inspired by pagan folk music. So it's mixture of doom metal and folklore. But still not "typical" folk metal.
They sang in english but now their last album is in czech language.

You`ve put some wonderful music on this thread, Petula07 ! I especially like the sinister, dark-sounding groups like Altan Urag and Silent Stream Of Godless Elegy. The track you`ve just posted, "Lonely", sounds great.

I wonder if you`ve ever come across Andrey Vinogradov, who also produces a somber, mysterious sound, by playing traditional Russian songs on one of the world`s stranger-looking instruments, the hurdy-gurdy :

I really like the sound, though to be honest, after a track or two, all the songs start sounding the same to me!

China Fire - underground Beijing scene (compilation)
Sheila on 7 - Pria Terhebat - Brit-Pop-like Indon pop-rock
Boris - Smile (Japanese version) - underground noise-rock/sludge metal

^ I found lots of Sheila on 7 on Youtube, but I think I prefered the Tat Ming Pair song I found, called Jin Se. It has a great piano introduction.
I couldn`t find your other recommendations on Youtube, Il Duce - they must be pretty obscure !

Another stringed instrument, with a different tone, is the Kora from West Africa; a dried gourd forms the body of the instrument and the twenty-one strings are usually of humble nylon fishing line, but the sound they produce is beautifully delicate. Unfortunately, we don`t get to see the playing up close in this clip -but I chose this one anyway because of the soothing tune :
