Yeah sounds like a plan. Tech help is fine, but definitely let me know what you want it to look like. It doesn't need to be a finalized idea, but a general direction. I can go with the flow.

Where do you run another one? On these boards? If so, then why do we need another one. If not, why don't you copy and paste the ****ing thing and post it here?

For what its worth, I'd do it but no one gives a **** about music on here, let alone in this particular forum.
I meant I'm already running an album club (to be specific, the indie/alternative one). Also, I'm sorry that you felt that I was being condescending... I just thought that my comment was a bit self-explanatory.

I`ve considered revitalizing this thread, but I`m a bit worried about the commitment it implies !

I'm in if you end up doing it.

Not sure about the grouping of country, folk and world music. They are three very different genres. Well maybe some slight overlap between country and folk.

Yes, they`re different styles of music, but I think there`s a lot of overlap.
I`d say that country music is just one type of American folk music, and I think of "world music" as refering to music that comes, discernibly, from non-anglo cultures. In fact, in my local record store for instance, the World Music section is almost exclusively folk music.
So all three terms are interconnected, aren`t they ?

"Americana" would cover all three

Now you`re trying to confuse me !
"Americana" covers country music. Agreed.
"Americana" covers American folk music. Agreed.
"World Music", though, is a much bigger category, which could include Americana, but first I`d like you to clear up this doubt if you can, Il Duce :-

Is "world music" a term like "abroad", which takes it`s meaning from where you are ? "Abroad" is just any country that isn`t mine. Does that mean that in the same way, if you live in Iran, The Beatles count as world music because they come from a different country ?

Americana covers stuff like Apallachian folk, whih would be "world" even in the Anglo-Americanised definition

^ Sorry, but I don`t think of Apallachian as "world music", although if I was Iranian, then I probably would.
Maybe I`m wrong. I have to log out now, but will think it over !
