Not that I know of - in fact, this is the first time I've heard of it. I know he was on drugs for the clinically depressed and lots of weed but that's all I know.. fill me in

Good stuff, I love hearing folk musicians paying tribute to their blues influences. Have you been listening to Family Tree? That album led me towards Dave van Ronk, which I've been thoroughly enjoying.

Drake is a god, imho, and next to Nick Cave, is my other fantasy musical boyfriend (without the depression, though; and Cave would have to leave his misogyny at the door...although I think he's grown out of most of that in recent years). Drake's life and its early end sadden me deeply. I wish he'd been able to find better help for his depression and ways of dealing with it that didn't include ending his life and the inability to have a successful relationship with others. I would have loved to watch him grow into old age and hear the music he created throughout the rest of his life.

Nick Drake is pretty good, for some reason I could never get into Bryter Layter though. Should probably give it another spin sometime.

River Man is definitely my favorite song, by far. Probably one of my top five songs of all time.

I only got into acoustic music after being given an acoustic guitar as a Christmas present and one of the CDs I was given was Bryter Later. Some of the best music I've ever heard.

You should man.
Drake is one of those rare musicians of whom I can't decide wich album I like best. I play them randomly, I really can't choose between them. They're all brilliant to me.
