I understand the frustration but you remind me of the Jehovahs that come up to me talking about end times. I'm sure it probably felt like end times a century ago during the world wars. I'm sure the bubonic plague felt like end times. The **** is nothing new.

Really all these issues only really exist in most of our lives as abstractions - things viewed with horror from a safe distance. In a way we're suffering from information overload.

Idk, extreme weather patterns have a pretty direct impact on almost everyone's lives. Human extinction is far away though. Even if we obliterate each other, there's always going to be some survivors. We're basically roaches.

No one will ever get to gloat about successfully predicting the end but as long as there’s two people left the one with a grip on the most obvious will still say it ain’t over yet.

Joke: A man who jumped from an airplane refused to accept he was going to hit the ground until it was ten feet away. At that point he decided not to pull the rip cord because he figured he could jump from there.

well yeah I'm concerned about climate change as potential dead end for us

It's not like I rule out human Extinction. Like I said before I believe if we ever engineer true AGI it will likely render us obsolete and we might go extinct from that as well.

Ant said they won't want to compete with us but I tend to think Intelligence probably means autonomy which means they will have their own interests in what to do with the reasources around them and thus are more likely to possibly render us extinct not necessarily intentionally but rather as a byproduct of their own dominance over the environment which we used to control. The same way we drive species extinct today.

Human population bottlenecked to under 20,000 under 100,000 years ago.
