Granted, Clash and Buzzcocks are great.
Depends on what your definition of "punk" I suppose. I guess I see it in the more art rock sense of the word, where the post-1st-wave London/1st-wave CBGBs bands, were wannabes, carried along on some contrived idea of what a "punk band" should be, rather than what "punk" was.

After the late-seventies, punk and hardcore just became what the post-punk and alternative bands who had any talent started out as, before going on to bigger and better things. Plenty of good hardcore in the eighties, I guess (even though I'm not a big 80s hardcore fan TBH), but in the end it was just a springboard.

Final consensus: nothing isn't punk.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

Brit awards to be less white next year, pledges chairman | Music | The Guardian

How do they know the Brits will be less white next year when the music hasn't even been released yet?

I have seen over the past week or so people (respected journalists and credible artists) claiming Grime artists should have been included.
None of the lazy fuckers even released an album.

This is all very pathetic.

If you only have one minority in the whole thing, you're accused of tokenism and racism, so what do you do? You artificially implement more of them into the program. What's the word for that again?

People getting mad at the award ceremonies confuse the issue with industry standards, differences in marketing, casting, and overall trends of what the public goes nuts for.

Oh well all good things must come to an end. Most punk rock stars are pushing into their 60's at this point (Ie John Lydon, Jello Biafra, Glenn Danzig) ect.

I'm not even sure that music is a popular outlet for teens anymore, seems like rock and hip hop stars have been surpassed by video games.

I would agree. Though, speaking as a teen, there's still plenty within my age group rocking out to and being spoken to by modern punk rock. It's still an underground music form, just as it was in the 80's, but the internet makes it easier to access. You can't sum up the whole generation by the majority, because outliers exist everywhere. I'd say that as long as teenagers and young adults exist, punk and it's ethos will resonate. Society's mold can't fit to everyone.

Probably all seen it now but anyway.

Maria Sharapova failed drugs test at Australian Open - BBC Sport

A massive blow to women's sport tbh. Olympic year as well.

I saw a lot of Serena fans on Twitter lolling about Sharapova doping and still not being able to beat Serena, obviously not working out why that might be.
