Obviously there are still punk bands and a lot more bands people would call punk. I don't even think Leftover Crack has broken up yet, but I mean, as a whole that **** is dead. There are still disco bands too. Punk died the day it became trendy.

The only two members "assembled" were Johnny Rotten and, later, Sid Vicious. They were a band before McLaren discovered them. They only became bull**** once Glen Matlock, their main songwriter, was replaced by Vicious.

I mean sure, real punk has always been underground. Duh. That doesn't mean there isn't anything good coming out of it. Plus it started as a trendy genre. Television tried to set it off on the right path but Sex Pistols and Ramones had to ruin it all. But then again, whatever. Music is music. I like new punk and you don't have to.
