Who is pro gun on here and who is in favour of more gun control anyway? Could do with another gun thread, been ages since the last one. Could bump the last one but I just like public polls so I can see which way people are voting and where they stand.

If we find out that this guy also used a bump stock then it should be a no-brainer to ban them immediately.

Question:

58 killed in Las Vegas and now 26 killed in Texas by white males in a little over a month. Not labeled terrorism.

8 people killed in NYC by a immigrant from the middle east who'd been in the country for 6 years prior to the incident.

TERRORISM!!!!

Why?

wacism innit

Or it could be that the NYC Truck of Peace guy shouted Allahu Ahkbar, was inspired by ISIS and did it for political reasons.

Probably just wacism though Chules.

Why call it terrorism? We all know that "terrorism" is a euphemism for fundamentalist Islamic guerilla warfare and pretending it isn't is thickheaded. The only reason to lump all this other **** in with it is so that we can feel better about ourselves when we talk about "real" terrorism. We know that muslims aren't the only people who employ these kinds of tactics, and use of the word "terrorism" isn't stopping any rednecks from using "terrorism" to mean muslims.

Las Vegas guy tried to kill as many innocent people as possible.

NYC guy tried to kill as many innocent people as possible.

Texas guy tried to kill as many innocent people as possible.

The terror lies in the killing, not in what someone shouts. Their motives are exactly the same - kill as many people as possible.

Maybe the Vegas guy hated country music.
Maybe the NYC guy hated Americans.
Maybe the Texas guy hated God.

Who gives a ****. All three should be labeled terrorism. Cherry picking shouldn't be tolerated.

Politics and/or religon do not lay sole claim to the word terror.

Everyone says it’s about political objectives and motivation but I don’t buy it. They just don’t want to deal with our homegrown dysfunctional meltdown but considering what they would have to do to stop it (things like putting people, like you, with hardons for serial killers in camps) it might be for the best that they don’t.

You've been told already why one is being called terrorism and why the others aren't. You're just unwilling to accept it.

What elph posted is the reason guys are getting confused and working themselves up over it all, because you think terrorism that kills say five people is by default worse than a mass shooting that kills fifty.

lol at having to wiki the definition of terrorism btw

"Terrorism" could have been an actual useful word if it hadn't become a synonym for violent, radical muslims. This whole battle between Islamophobes and those who oppose them over the use of the word "terrorism" is idiotic tbh. The only definition that isn't pointless afaic and isn't just a sleight-of-hand to talk about muslims would be a description of the kind of non-state organizations that would apply to both Al Qaeda and the IRA. Even these lone wolf, politically motivated muslim "terrorists" shouldn't be labeled terrorists imo, because unless they're actually affiliated with a terrorist organization, calling them terrorists only serves to give the false impression in the eyes of much of the public, both that they are actually affiliated with a terrorist organization, and that muslims are just terrorists waiting to happen. They're gonna get that impression anyway, but there's no need to help them along when it doesn't even serve a purpose.
