I prefer a reigned-in version of conservatism to pretty much everything else presented out there in the marketplace of ideas (currently). I'd also be okay with an Denmarkized-Socialist America as a close 2nd if it was headed by Dems like Andrew Yang rather than the idiots currently in charge of the party or mush-for-brains up and comers like Ocasio-Cortez.

Rest of ya'll need to open your minds up and smell the roses.

Exactly. Never yet met a libertarian who broke with the republican party on anything meaningful. They might have issues with the social issues but those always tend to be secondary to the economic issues, which end up making the social issues almost irrelevant. AFAIC any libertarian who truly cared about individual liberty the way libertarians are supposed to would never vote republican.

Well I believe gun control is more an issue of mental health than it is an issue of firearm distribution and I don't believe in universal health care. However I do believe marijuana should be decriminalized, gay marriage should be legal, and abortions (tentatively) and birth control should be available to women. I'm also against fracking.

Those are just a few things I believe in.

And where do you align? Weren't you saying that conservatives aren't so bad a few pages ago? Why the defensive distancing?

I came from that libertarian mindset. That's how we think. Believing in smoking pot and abortion are basically irrelevant because the economy is first and foremost and so long as liberalism exists it's the only real consideration. The social issues aren't truly important to most libertarians. The social issues are a pose to make them feel like they aren't crazy Christians.

Defensive distancing? Dude I told you that I both agree and disagree with some right-wing platforms. I outlined a few things I align with and don't align with. Why are you so vehement in trying to pin me as a conservative when I'm not?

With conservatism in general or the Republican party.

(btw not wanting to be "pinned down as a conservative" is defensive distancing)
