Not exactly an unbelievable headline story, but in Britain there is a bit of celeb gossip each year: Who is getting an honour from the Queen? Past recipients have included The Beatles and I think Mick Jagger, but not Keith Richards - snubbed by the Queen, who turns out to be a bit of a killjoy about recreational heroin use. Anyway, this year, sixties model Twiggy is getting an MBE (Member of British Empire), which is all the excuse I need for a photo:-

Twiggy(née Leslie Hornby), M.B.E. For her services to God and Empire, and in recognition of her work in promoting adolescent male fantasies.

And here she is again in a better known photo:

....which leads on rather cleverly to the next item: celebs who have taken a stand on principal and declined the honour:- https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/ampstorie...tory_slot=1-sa

Harry Kane and Gareth Southgate both getting MBEs. Seen people crying about this. It's deserved.

Sir Harry Edward Kane. It's going to happen.

I'd say that your insistence on saying "Sir" every time you mention that guy is pretty English nationalist of you. I would say that but as you haven't responded to one of my posts in weeks I think you've put me on ignore like a vag.

^ The seventies hair doesn't help Bowie's appearance, but to me it's just a bad photo. Is it supposed to be some clever reference to Bowie as actor or the tradition of pierrot make up? If so, they took theoretically decent idea and made a real mess of it.

^ This, for instance, is quite stylish imo, but on Pinups it's done so half-heartedly that the intention is unclear, and then, in Twiggy's case, it's finished off by putting a bathing cap on top which serves the dual purpose of making the image both uglier and more baffling. Together with the woobly-looking letters of the title, whoever signed off on that as a decent album cover should consider a different career path.

If you clicked on the link about people who declined the MBE, you'll come to Alan Bennett, and if his is a new name to you, you're missing out on a unique treasure of popular British culture. For a two-minute glimpse into this man's unpretentious world view, listen to him read from his own diary, in which he wrote down his impressions of Love Island, of all things:-

EDIT: OK, here's one more... Alan Bennett is talking about how he looks into his own past to choose names for the characters in his writing:-

So, something strange is going on in the skies.

A mile-wide object was seen in the skies over Kenner, Louisiana. It caused insane electrical interference and phenomena. It exploded transformers and electrical devices. Multi-colored lights and beams were seen shooting down to the ground and frying electrical cables.

A similar thing happened in Long Island City and Astoria, New York, followed by widespread power outages in California. The power outages shut down airports and subways in New York.

Here is a video from Astoria, New York, showing strange light formations and flashes in the sky around the time of the event: https://www.facebook.com/bittersweet...27040134260456

Internet users also report this strange phenomena in Brooklyn, New York and Charlotte, North Carolina.
