The most awesome definition of christianity ever - "The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree... yeah, makes perfect sense."

I don't get it, though it does looks like the "hang in there kitty" without the tree limb.

The standard cosmological argument for the existence of God goes something like this:

The world is effectively, a giant causal chain. God (if we are to anthropomorphise this being) positions himself outside of the chain, he is the prime-mover-unmoved. God sets of this chain of cause and effect while he has no cause. The problem I have with this argument is that although it is logically fine, the prime-mover-unmoved that we have labelled God could be easily replaced by any other entity - there are many schools of thought/religions that have monistic philosophies, meaning that at the end of it all, there is the ONE. In the philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer's philosophy for example, the will is the most basic entity and we are all but manifestations of will.

Although this criticism is unable to disprove the existence of God, it should have done enough to establish reasonable doubt.

The Jesuit Priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin published a book entitiled The Phenomenon of Man. It conveys an extremely interesting theory that combines Christian morals within a framework that feeds off Darwinist evolution theory. I highly recommend it to those that are interested.

And here ends my rant... Sorry but I just want to make 15 posts so I could link videos!

They sequenced the Neanderthal genome to humans. Basically proving we evolved from them.

It didn't say we evolved, but we split as a species then might had interbreed when human and Neanderthal came in contact with each other.

It's all just a question faith.

Their is no right or wrong relgion. For me what makes humans apart from animals is the 'human condition'. We all know what's right what is wrong, and ulimitly we decide for ourselves to over step those boundries or not. But if those boundries were never set in place by parents, experiences, or oneself is a whole other topic.

But in the end it's faith, reason can only take you so far. For example, in math you use reason to 'build' a bridge to find conclusions. But when it comes to life after death, relgion, and ect your bridge can only go so far. So the question is, are you willing to take the leap of faith to reach the other side? I heard someware that to be an atheist takes alot of faith to not belive in a God. Any belif system takes faith.

"God, made in Man's image"
Humans created a higher being for two primary reasons-
1. To explain the inexplicable. Back when human understanding of the world around us was very limited, we happily subscribed to anyone who promised answers.
2. Comfort. Knowing that death leads to an eternity in Heaven. Knowing that your loved ones aren't actually gone when they die. Knowing that bad people get what they deserve. Knowing that everyone is responsible to a higher power. etc

I don't believe in a God, and I think that organized Religion is a plague on the human race.
