You're f*cking insane if you think religion of all things is immune to criticism. Just because a lot of people do it is a terrible excuse not to point out a problem I have with it personally.
Boo Boo's back.

Well then I definetly understand, and agree that most people's concept of heaven doesn't sound so pleasent. But I'd chalk that up more to church dogma than actual biblical passages. I mean, everything that depicts heaven or hell is heavily influenced by Greek poetry and A.D. Christian artwork. Heaven itself isn't nessicarily described in the bible in much detail.

I think you would make a good Christian. You have some misconceptions about the faith, (like Heaven isn't a gamecube), but who doesn't (have you read some of the things people posted in this thread), though I have to say some of the things you say come close to Christian thinking (like choosing eternal joy over eternal suffering.)

wouldn't most people in the world prefer that? save the masochists, of course.

I think Hell is the feeling that you're doing something completely absurd and inane, but that you have no choice but to keep doing it. Like Sisyphus pushing his boulder up the hill...

well i don't believe in hell...but if i had to think of something that would put me through the most torture and agonizing mental anguish...it would probably be taking the worst moment of my life and forcing me to live it over and over again. each time, of course, would be like the first time, though.

I doubt if Sisyphus thought that what he done was absurd, well at least not in the beginning, the first few tries he might of thought it was possible. It's most likely he had free will in the beginning because he wanted to push the boulder up the hill - he wanted to acheive his task. But only after a few hundred times it started to sink in it was a futile task, but he couldn't stop because by that point he developed OCD and he felt compelled to push the boulder up the hill, in a way he lost his free will when it slowly turned into a force of habit.
