For the record I'm an agnostic, but I lean towards deism, I have had more than a few experiences that leads me to ponder that there is an afterlife. But I don't think any religion has a real understanding of what it is.

Unless you believe in reincarnation, you obviously weren't alive before you were born, so no, it's not the same thing, now we're talking about having experienced life already, and upon death your conciousness shutting down forever.

The thought of Void is really the worst. Only trying to imagine, not being there to even feel that you are not there.

I wouldn't even say I'd prefer it to the kinda heaven I talked about on the first post, because if god took away all your memories and everything that makes you you, it would basically be the same thing, it's a scary fate either way.

Now an afterlife where I actually have my old memories and self concept intact, I'm down with it. I don't think heaven would be that boring if it offered much much more than our current existance. I just don't want to be brainwashed in the process.

^ although I would love to live as a ghost. not to haunt, but I don't feel like leaving Earth. I donno how people can be afraid by paranormal phenomenons. It should assure them that there's an amusing afterlife.

Yeah it's scary to think that life might NEVER end, I can't even think about eternity.

But it seems we're doomed for eternity either way, an eternity of conciousness or an eternity of nothing. Can't say I'm a fan of either, isn't life funny?

I don't know where you get the idea God takes away your memories. I thought people have there memories but they pale in comparison to what heaven is like, people get to understand what did in this life, what their actions meant to other people, & what it means to God.
I thought a persons memories are no longer subjective but they remember them in an objective light, they see what they did effects everyone else for good or bad.
