I can't wait. Are you talking about through OMOs or through the discount window, and just how much of the national debt you believe this is responsible for?

Obama has been spending the first year undoing what Bush has done, so I don't see how that translates to likening it to Bush's third term. He is doing it a little slowly for my tastes, but I'm pretty sure nearly everything he has done so far would be the opposite of what Bush would have done. People seem to forget just how much power the US president actually has. He is not an all powerful monarch who can come in and reorganize our entire government by his sheer will. He has channels he has to go through, people he has to attempt to persuade, and national security to keep track of. The big fix won't come in one freaking year.
I'm not taking sides, because I think both of them are lousy presidents... but I'm curious as to what Obama is undoing from the Bush administration.

Failed/failing ideas don't count.

I think being a president is a pretty tough job, especially if you get it when the economy is struggling. Perhaps noone taking on the job at that point could make people in general happy.

I know it's gotta be tough, but I don't think the majority of Americans are unhappy with Obama just because things are not getting better... I think it's about why they're not getting better... and why they're getting worse, and this is generally reflective of his policies.

We know things aren't going to change overnight, and most people don't expect them to. But most people can look at things in context with worsening conditions based on policies that aren't working and figure things out both in the short and long term.
That's the main reason most Americans are scared for their country's future right now.

It's socialism. Get over it.

I'm pissed about Obama doing away with funding for future lunar missions. This guy seriously has no f*cking clue what do with the US budget, at all.

And so much for being "bringing back the science books", assh*le.

We don't want to share no space station with the f*cking Russians maaaaaaaaan.

Ok, so you obviously know what I am talking about then...OMO's determine the base money in our economy, which is at the discretion of the Fed. So if you also know how a fractional reserve works, how can you possibly say it isn't increasing our national debt? Anytime the Fed puts more money into circulation, it is through a loan. A loan the American people have to pay back. This results in a higher national debt.

I didn't say that this was the main reason for our current situation. I do think it contributed (in multiple ways), however, I simply was commenting on how a central bank combined with the way we manage our money is a horrible way to run a country. And it most definitely runs the country. Even the name of our system implies money, and if we plan on keeping it that way then we should really rethink the whole central bank idea.

Instead of typing out everything he is doing that I actually agree with, I found this article:

Daily Kos: State of the Nation

Maybe a lot of that doesn't have a lot to do with undoing Bush's work, as when I mention that I'm mostly talking about the economic mess we are in (which he is most definitely trying to undo), but there is still a lot to appreciate there.

Now, please don't misunderstand me. I have my criticisms. I have a lot of criticisms, actually...I just can't stand how everyone defaults to "Yeah, everything he is doing is wrong". I even gave Bush some credit early in his presidency until I realized he actually was an idiot. Maybe I will make the same conclusion with Obama, but reading through that list and knowing the situation he inherited, I'm willing to cut some slack.

Get back to me next year and I might have a different opinion, but right now I am still hopeful.
