My dad has friends in Christchurch (he's from Auckland) who are okay, I think a couple of them went to stay with family in Wellington.

Yeah bumping an old thread I know, but 11 months, 9500 aftershocks later and we're still getting them.

the last two mag 6.0's were on the 23rd of December on a completely new fault and the aftershocks from these are quite violent
