Summary:

Obama referenced god in his speech.

Many atheists think this isn't appropriate for this day and age in a secular society.

Big 3 thinks its trivial.

Atheists think it's not.

So... it's a ways off track, but it's the interesting corner of this discussion in my opinion.

Am I a 19 year old nose-deep in Ayn Rand novels? No. So no need to engage in such ad hominems, eh?
I don't think theres a need. Its a rhetorical device. My point is, unless you're just wholly opposed to religion, there isn't anything that is jumping out as offensive there. He didn't say "lets pray to a Christian God for thanks on this one."

Also, how does he look like Bush?

Thank you! Wow all those posts for just that? Well I'm guessing you guys disagree with Janszoon?

I'm not suprised that there are religious overtones in Barak's speech but whether it was target specifically at Obama or not can be refuted. It's not like he's the only religious focused, extrememist eastern threat.

Er, did I miss where everyone came out and said they were atheists, or where this debate was limited to atheists?

There weren't religious overtones. This is the debate.

I already explained to you that God with a capital "G" refers to the Christian god. Not sure why you chose to ignore that.

No, he just blurted it out and showed all his cards. This was my point. Ian doesn't believe in God, and humorously enough, he's gone evangelical about his atheism.

I could see him being offended if he were a hindu or muslim American, but to narrow it down to being Christian VS Atheist is just as narrow in view.
