The rapture is basically Armageddon, the Apocalypse, the coming of the Judgement, the final day etc.

God's Judgement shall descend on the Earth, the Holy shall ascend to Paradise whilst the sinners shall remain on the Earth as it becomes a burning sulphurous wasteland.

Who knows. Maybe it refers to a new stage of revolution in Human Society, something like the industrial revolution. Maybe as a result of our raping of the Earth, we'll set into motion a chain reaction of atomic elements which result in it's burning destruction, and we'll have to build spaceships to escape it, thus rocketing into a new age. And only those who are able to provide a solid and neccessary service to the "New World" will be allowed onto the spaceships.

Or maybe God is gonna use a float ray. Don't question God. It's BLASPHEMOUS
