It just gives me the creeps, and they don't do anything useful, so I see no reason to tempt fate.
Indeed .. And I think it would be a little harder to be a skeptic if I was in a "haunted" house all alone at night.

Oh there have been many a time when I was listening to Coast-to-Coast AM and had to pull the covers over my head cause all the ghost stories had scared the **** out of me.

I wonder how much fear can contribute in religious loyalty.

Let's say I had formulated the test differently. Instead of writing a note, the test was to say loudly "God does not exist". Would that invoke a fear response like writing the note might? Would then people taking the test feel like mentally or even verbally asking God for forgiveness afterwards?

I had to think for a long time about who I would put for part 1.
Therefore...

Oh, I definitely have no problem saying that.

I imagine all we atheists have let loose with a "**** god!" or a "Jesus can slob on my engorged knob!" at least once or twelve in our lives, but can you honestly say it wasn't about convincing yourself that he doesn't exist as much as anything else?

I sometimes cursed god when I was younger as purely the most extreme form of verbal anger expulsion that I could think of. But now that I'm 100 percent atheist, such things falling on deaf ears wouldn't make me feel better.

I'm convinced via reason, rather than emotion.

I wouldn't say anything like that to anyone because I know some people would take it really hard. Just because you disagree with the way someone thinks doesn't give you the right to insult them.

Looks like I'm going to die in a traffic accident tomorrow.

I just thought about how badly it would suck. She actually did get into an accident a few years back. We don't really talk anymore.
