I don't think not making jokes is gonna help with your empathy and morality. If people are offended that's their problem. They are jokes not malicious attacks of character. Might as well start protesting comedians if your gonna make a 180 like that.

Like above, most people if they don't agree with the joke/comment then they will ignore it because it is mature. I wouldn't stop expressing yourself for the sake of some people on the Internet, don't be stupid and enjoy yourself as you normally would.

Most people aren't really that concerned anymore. It's been over a decade. It's kind of hard to stay that angry for that long. Especially after it's constantly brought up by politicians as a way to justify invading half the middle east, or just as a way to get cheap applause when speaking to a crowd.

I have friends who lost parents in 9/11.

I don't get upset or anything over jokes anymore unless it's completely tasteless, but it certainly is something that will never get old or unimportant.

i think that's why it doesn't affect me. i'm just not connected to it in any way.

it wasn't even important to me when it happened tbh. i was about 14 and at that point in time i was immature enough to get excited at the prospect of war and i basically vastly over estimated the enemy we were up against... i was expecting to see bombers flying over us at any minute.

true story: about a week after 9/11 happened i went to the book store and bought a book on how to speak arabic. never did learn it though due to how lazy i am.

9/11 jokes are the kind of jokes that you laugh at but follow with reverent reflection. It's like telling a joke or funny story about a loved one at their funeral.

I was about five or six when the first Gulf War happened, and I really didn't know what was going on. All I knew was that **** was happening and I was afraid we might get invaded.

i wasn't even aware of the gulf war tbh. didn't ever hear about politics growing up... my family was completely apathetic to it. the only thing i was ever told about it was that we vote democrat because we are poor.
