I'm not going to be getting on board with socialism, but we're just going to end up with totalitarian fascism (the merger of the corporate with the state) calling itself "socialism" and the evidence is all around us in both the business and the culture.

Like I said in the other thread, I had family members (who I knew) who were in a Nazi concentration camp (Sobibor); I don't take kindly to any sort of mass movements because I know what tends to happen when people get swept up in big ideas... the next thing you know, there are prison camps and bodies being bulldozed into ditches.

I'd prefer to be left out of it, but if that's not possible, then I'm more than willing to retaliate for being dragged in.

But the thing is, I don't want to have to do that but in that hypothetical circumstance, I won't be left with any other option.
Misanthropy is a perfectly valid attitude, but just be aware that it is harder to get others to sympathize with your views if you come across as too self-centered.

It's not misanthropy, because there are some people I legitimately enjoy being around.

What it has to do with are the people who are always staring at me and whispering about me when I leave the house. I can hear them whispering about how I should kill myself whenever I go out to the the supermarket or the pharmacy & I don't know why they do this because I never did anything to them.

If only Trump would withdraw from politics due to the amount of people who hope he hangs himself.

I heard that a sprinkle of socialism makes meds much more attainable and affordable.

Not necessarily as we know it is the only glimmer of hope in that circumstance.

I wouldn't want to live in a socialist system where Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schitt, Donald Trump, Dick Cheney, Barack Obama, etc are the arm of the state.

The only way it could even hope to work out for the better is if the US was able to throw out about 99.999% of its political class & these people are so deeply entrenched in the system that I don't see that happening.

What's far more likely is that we will end up with (more of) a fascist state (than we already have) wherein the big businesses such as starbucks, amazon, comcast, banks, etc are the government and our elected officials are only mere figureheads... which is for all intents and purposes, the direction we are moving in at this very moment and have been moving in since around 1975 with the NYC fiscal crisis when the experiment first started.

This new, consolidated form of control with throw a couple of bones to the society in terms of the black thing and the gay thing, maybe legalize pot finally & call itself "socialism" but in reality, it will be fascism.

Yeah, and then they got Francisco Franco, who was diet fascist.

But ok... we will see what happens I suppose.
