They have about 5000 members. They kinda died off after the Democratic Party decided their brand of racism wasn't going to help them get votes any more.

Edit: Oh, right. It's 4:30 in the morning and I just woke up.

I don't have time to go off on some megapost so I'll just point out that the Democratic party up to around the mid-1900s was a completely different beast to the current one. Now it's the party of liberal (pseudo)intellectuals and minorities, whereas back then it was the party of blue collar workers. The Democratic and Republican parties have now basically switched constituencies and race politics, so the implication I imagine you are making has no bearing on now. Might as well point out that the Republicans were the party of abolitionists in the 1800s.
