Seriously in that one of them WILL hold the office of POTUS. Either Trump or Clinton will be my president for at least the next 4 years so I have to take them seriously since either of them could affect my economics and my kids' future.

You can take the responsibility of the office seriously without taking the office holder seriously.

3rd party candidates have historically been a joke based on the final presidential electoral results. Johnson coming across as so stupid only help reinforce the notion that anything other than GOP or Democrat is a complete waste of a vote.
