See, this is where I disagree. Of course how accessible healthcare is would be tied to the health of our nation. I just don't think a lack of accessibility to healthcare is anywhere close to being the reason why American's are so unhealthy. It's unhealthy eating, no exorcise, drug addiction and suicide that seems to be all tied to our mortality rate. None of this is a result of healthcare. Except for maybe drug addiction because they do give people in a lot of pain opium and ****. Even then, at what point are people taking responsibility for taking more than what's prescribed? A lot of these issues are more heavily social, economic and education issues than healthcare issues.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Frown

My point is that you were very nonchalant about Chula's medical needs and your commonsense solutions. You're lack of empathy told me you've never been there. Chula said you're still on mommy's tits. And you are. Only a child would say that **** about he doesn't need his medicine. If you make it through without some kind of predictable hipster death, you'll see.

You are so busy trying to argue with me that you don't realize why I quoted your post.

I was agreeing with and reinforcing your claims but also explaining a bit more why.

You realize that changing your diet can reverse your independence for those kinds of things right (BP, CL, etc)? His needs are most likely the result of his own actions (diet and all the drugs from his youth). Obviously, he can't take any of that back, but he can work on making better decisions going forward, which I think was the point.

The stress though, that is the real bitch. You can't really do anything except try and change who you are or your situation (but if it's a chem imbalance thing youre kinda screwed). I advocate for meditation and more physical activity to help reduce stress levels. I'm a monster.

Personally, I'd feel more comfortable if the discussion in this thread were kept more on topic. IRL Chula and his family clearly have some worrying financial and health problems. If he chooses to confide them to us, I think we should either show some sympathy or keep quiet. None of that information should be used for making negative comments or scoring debate points.

On topic, I can't remember a time when American politics were this exciting. Last night on an MNBC show, they were really laying into the Republican party. I wish now I'd written a memo, or "memcon" as I have just learned they are called, because one commentator made the following points:-

i) last night, there were no GOP members on tv prepared to debate the latest Trump fiasco
ii) doners to the GOP are watching tv, though, and they are not at all happy
iii) the history of the Russian investigation is being written now, and the silence of the GOP will be held against them by history; how can they stand aside and let Trump bully the FBI and cozy up to Russia, inviting them and their press to the WH and giving them classified info?
iv) with Nixon's impeachment, 40 politicians went to prison because they were sucked into helping the leader of their party and ended up doing illegal stuff. Republicans involved in anything to do with the Russian investigation will find themselves under similar scrutiny, and the first question will be; why did you say nothing?
v) who wants to talk about tax reform now? The combination of loyalty to Trump, and Trump's bull-in-a-china-shop self-inflicted disasters means that the entire Republican agenda has become derailed.
vi) The Republicans have painted themselves into a corner; to investigate or not investigate, to impeach or not impeach. All roads spell disaster for them.

Bottom line: lots of sympathy for Chula. Zero sympathy for Republicans.

We're not here for points

Sorry Lisna, I just come here to read about Trump things I may not have heard from other sources. There's generally not much to discuss since it's unfolding before our eyes, and I don't have any interest in trying to speculate about this shitshow of a president. Also, to poke elph.

^ Well at least you're clear about your own motives, which is never a bad thing!
