I guess you think that the only time we should be involved in a war is when it is already too late and they are on our shores.
As already stated, that's so vague I can't even answer it. Possibly yes, in some cases.

It better be damn close to that. Can you give me an example of a war after 1945 that if Americans were not proactively aggressive towards any of our enemies they would have been on our shores or threatening our freedoms?

Not attacking your positions in general, just pointing out that I highly doubt the Nazis or Japanese would have been on our shores. No way they'd be delusional enough to think it would work or at least be worth it. They'd probably just use economic pressure to bring us in line.

Which is why I included "or threatening our freedoms", which you pointed out in your previous post about the war of 1812.

I modified it slightly while you were quoting me.

I know, but history is fun.

You think Tojo and Hitler would have said alright we conquered Europe and Asia time to apply sanctions on America?

Oxford, Cambridge, and other top schools have promoted open discussion/debate for years. It's called "verbal reasoning."

I guess Pearl Harbor doesn't count?

I'm not an expert, but no I don't think they would have invaded when they could just make us irrelevant.

I definitely don't think it was the beginning of a Japanese invasion. They were just trying to set us back so they could seize as much territory and resources as they could before we got back on our feet.

But doesn't defending Hawaii count as "defending your country," even if it wasn't a state at the time?

Technically, but there was never a serious threat of Japan encroaching on our territory besides a few pissant islands like the Aleutians and Midway. It was just offense as defense.
