Man you should try to get the chance to go see it for yourself. That is the incredible power of US capitalist propaganda speaking so hard. If you were fortunate enough to land a teaching position in China your life would improve 1000% over your life in America. How does that make the statement that the Chinese government is terrifying untrue? It is. Would a government that cares about its people let them work basically as dehumanised slaves in factories of large corporations? Maybe your or elph's life would improve when you'd move to China (although I doubt that) but from what I know it's a soul destroying capitalist place just like America but with less freedom of speech. I have to admit I don't know much about China though

If white people are able to land jobs in China they’re treated like royalty compared to life in America. If you just go there with nothing set up and overstay you’re visa they just throw you out. They don’t lock you in a concentration camp like America does.

I’m not even trying to argue the Chinese government isn’t terrifying (right now) but just for an American who works graveyard at 7/11 to say that has a wild misconception of what China really is. They have a middle class the size of America all of whom enjoy a more comfortable existence than a low wage worker in America. The internet is censored but you can read whatever you want in print and you can listen to whatever music you like.

As far as their slave factory workers. It’s like pretty much exactly the same as our prison and work release labor. You get put on work release you have absolutely no choice. You HAVE to go to work, often in gulag (and I am NOT being hyperbolic) conditions.

If you got a job in China with all your language skills if you learned just half ass Chinese you’d have a great life. At least, compared to mine. I’ll admit people would snub you socially or see you just as a foreign pet or novelty and would consider your lesbianism as a strange foreign idiosyncrasy but believe me no one would ever touch you. You could walk through the largest cities in China alone at all hours free of fear of crime. Where I live a woman needs an escort just to walk to her car at night. Wtf kind of freedom is that?
