Pretty sure sexism would get in the way of her campaign more than anything tbh.
Tbf they're not even really compromising most of the time. They're throwing the fight cause the US as it exists is basically how they want it, assuming the Republicans quit being so gosh durn difficult. They compromise cause they don't have much they really want to fight for, which is why they're at best temporary allies with the left against the right. They simply can't be worked with long-term.

I think AOC can do for the Democrats what Trump did for Republicans (a lot of grey area there, I get it - but specifically I mean she could lead the party in a new, more progressive direction and she's strong willed enough to not make unnecessary concessions to appease the party writ large).

A lot of these arguments being made against AOC could've been made against Trump before he was elected. Despite some of the arguments having truth to them, Trump got elected anyway.

Not that I'm saying it would be a good thing overall, but if Trump got re-elected, it might be the best thing to happen for the future of the Democratic party.

I think AOC has the star power, influence, and media know-how to outmaneuver most of her opponents. And, unlike Trump, she actually has experience in government too. Maybe she won't win her first bid for president - maybe she'll soften some of her positions - but she'll eventually be in the White House. If I'm wrong, I'll eat my hat.

P.S. Imagine how effective AOC would be at trolling the right on Twitter.

With boomers and many on the right, sure. I think Millennials and Gen-Z are soon to be the biggest voting bloc in the US though (most left-leaning). And I don't think sexism is as big of a hang-up for them - the only problem is how do you get them out to vote? Bernie couldn't solve that problem.

Please don't compare AOC to a man that has multiple sexual assault allegations, multiple racial discrimination complaints, and a vast history of discrimination against pretty much anything on this planet that isn't a white male.

Thanks.

Yeah, like I said, grey area.

Wasn't comparing their personal integrity or morality, just their effects on their respective parties.

To be fair, it was the boomers that started the Women's' Liberation Movement. Unfortunately, things happen and formally idealistic youngsters grow up to be cynical old fogeys. This is what the right counts on.

So what is the lesson here? Don't let the realities of life break you down, Millennials. Don't become cynics like us boomers, otherwise, one day, your children will be cursing you the way you curse us boomers now.

In other words, don't give up like we did.

I know. I get it. I've just heard the argument before and it has always led to the conclusion that they're very similar people, and that just couldn't be further from the truth. I'm not a huge AOC fan, mostly because I don't think a person should be a "fan" of any politician. I do however think she is the best example currently of somebody that won't actually be affected by corporate string pulling and will actually try to change peoples lives for the better. It was a rhetoric I heard over and over again when Trump was running and it just wasn't true in the slightest even though these mentally ill boomers like to pretend it was.

Kinda proves my point that the actively voting segment of the population is too hung up on sexist boomer **** to vote for AOC, don't it?

Making election day a national holiday and universally sending out mail in ballots would probably improve turnout.

I actually think this is overstated to a degree

most people form their political beliefs sometime in their early 20s and never move very far

boomers would have missed the hippy movement I think? I can never get the generations straight
