I don't have a horse in this race (I'm not even outside selling tickets) but I must admit one thing Ant does really bugs me (no pun intended) and that is his habit of editing quoted posts so that they reflect what he wants them to say and not what the poster says, in order that either his argument seems to be supported or, more often, just to make fun of the poster. It's childish. Worse, it's Trump 101. Very annoying. If you can't make your points without twisting or completely changing someone's words, Ant, I think you've already lost that debate.

Lol Bats and Frown have done it to me so many times that I just said aight and took a page out of their book. Also, why are you defending Bat Boy when he literally said I had brain worms for daring to argue with him? The post you are referring to wasn't any more childish than what he did.

Not defending anyone. Like I said, no horse have I in race. But whether Frown or anyone else does it, they don't do it as often as you, and it just annoys me that you tend to do it so much. I've actually never seen Batty do it to be fair, but the frequency with which you fall back on the tactic makes you the main culprit. Also, when I've seen Frown do it it's usually done in the kind of way that makes it obvious he knows that everyone realises he's doing it and it's just as a joke, whereas when you do it it comes across as snide and childish. I just hate to see it.

For a long time you carried a made-up quote in your sig that seemed to imply that Batty and someone else (can't remember who: Chula? Don't think so but someone) was in awe of you. Sure it was a joke, but every time someone read your sig they saw that and it ceased to be a joke fairly quickly.

I can't speak for the other times that Ant's done that, but in this case, it was pretty obvious that it was a joke. I dont think anyone actually thought Batty posted "Waaaaaaaaaaaaahh".

In almost every instance of other posters doing it, it comes across as snide. Besides that, there's plenty of snide behavior and replies here on the regular - have you read the last few pages on this thread? Anything else come across as snide to you?

I've done it a few times, but only in very obvious ways and generally only after they've already done it. In this case, I was mocking Charles's brain worms comment because it was so dumb that I didn't think it deserved a classy retort.

As far as what else you've said....nah, they're just being spiteful in their own respective ways, generally because they don't typically engage in debate without segueing into denigrations and personal attacks that have nothing to do with the actual topic. Average range is about...3-4 posts or so? It used to be more fun to debate about various things around here, but at some point that stopped being the case.

Yeah well whatever, but I've seen Ant do it multiple times and it's always annoyed me. I'm not likely to be swayed on that by someone else saying "but everyone else does it". I don't care. Ant's way of doing it bugs me. Deal with it.

It's because the stench of your bad faith fills the room in these "debates" and it's more fruitful to countertroll once the point's been established pre-nauseum. Just in case you were wondering.

Frown and I had real knockdown rows over the years, but with me at any rate he never resorted to rewriting what I had written in an attempt - however humorous, though I personally believe yours are written in earnest - to prove his point. I never liked him (I've matured since) but I always respected that he never stooped to that sort of trickery.

It's no big deal really, and hardly worth discussing. It's not that I'm saying it because I don't like you - I do - but it annoys me and I feel it's beneath you, that's all. You should be able to get your point across without having to drop to the lowest common denominator, a form of "I know you are but what am I" or something. Silly, and childish. That's all. Off you go back to your debate; I won't comment further. But you might think on it. Probably won't of course.
