I have to doubt Tyler did this in order to spread what he's about to the world. I imagine the actual process was just that Pepsi approached him and offered him a lot of money to do a voiceover on one of their ads and he said yes because what is a rapper unless they go Rated G For Gangsta after the height of their fame?

He actually created the whole thing, they approached him i'm sure but he was the director of the videos and everything. And though it doesn't represent what he's about (besides crude, absurd, immature humor), it does represent his consistent character in those things i just said.

But you are entitled to that doubt, of course, though that doesn't change the surrounding discourse here.

It wasn't cutting edge or anything Surrell. It was just mind numbingly stupid. this doesn't make Tyler a martyr or anything. He made a dumb advert, it was rightfully banned. He's an idiot.

Does it benefit the product it was trying to sell? No, therefore it failed as an advertisement.

Besides, Mountain Dew has always been a soda associated with trash. It's hick drink for kids who like to blow shit up in their backyard with little regard for surrounding wildlife and their (the hick kids') sperm count. Of course more sensible people like Maaaankycantnsdf will appreciate it, I myself enjoy KFC even though they sacrifice chickens to some occult cause, but I let it slide.

And besides that, this is beyond the advertisement, what I'm talking is Tyler's creative ethos, which happens to spill over into advertisement.
