Okay . . . yeah Mindless Self Indulgence are crazy, I had the chance to go to one of their shows and passed. (There's a great but unknown remix of Bitches by µ-Ziq, by the way for anyone who cares)

Tangerine Dream are wicked but may be a little too old school

I listened to the electronica station on sirius and it just sounded like rave music... Is that what electronica is? no offense, I like synth music, but It didnt sound that original... I listen to depeche mode alittle and nin, but I doubt they are considered electronica.. does anyone know any good electric - like bands that are kinda dark, but have strong bass?

Maybe not a band, but look into Squarepusher's entire collection. He was classically trained as a bassist, and still playes it live. He also has the most talented understanding of electronic sound (in my opinion) in the business.
Good starts may be these albums:
Feed Me Wierd Things
Hard Normal Daddy
Big Loada

Maybe also look into Plaid, a little more "band" oriented, but still electronic.
