You know what's really ancient... Boards of Canada which is mentioned on every other page of every electronic thread. I don't disagree though, 'Seamless' is a bit mature. Although, 'Broken Soul Jamboree' came out last year. To me that's not ancient. In any case, like I said, I just haven't seen anyone even mention Tipper yet which seemed strange to me since he was such a cornerstone for my electronic development. Where I'm from Tipper is a pretty major and influential artist and I was beginning to fear that he was actually relatively unknown.

I've mentioned him several times around here. Not much of a following here, from what I've seen.
Anyway, I have 5 of his albums. I love Seamless. Whomi's a great track. I like Wondering Clown the most, for some weird reason. The imagery of it is astounding.

Didn't like the Broken Soul album all that much. Maybe I need to give it more time.

I'm a modern dance choreographer and I'm looking to make a new piece, but I can't find any music that seems right. I need something minimal, dark, maybe spooky?, possibly something that starts off very simple and then builds up to a steady beat; other possibility could be the inclusion of everyday noises (clock tick, heartbeat, door slam, cars honking...anything from the real world I guess). No ambient or crazy party tunes please!

No idea if any of this makes sense, but maybe someone will have an idea? I've used a lot of Stewart Walker and Aphex Twins in the past, also quite a bit of Praxis.

Hope you electronic gurus can lend me a helping hand.
Hmm... perhaps some of these?

I figured that one would be spot on, so I put it first. Success! That whole label (Stroboscopic Artefacts) is worth checking out.

Shlohmo is great. I've known about him for awhile. I believe I found him through Submerse, or perhaps S.Y.N.K.R.O. That's a lot of S's!

Default Request? Bonobo Related

Dont know if this is the right place to be asking this. I couldnt find a request section.

I Fell in love with bonobo a few years back. I mainly like the 'Days to come', 'Animal Magic' and 'Dial M for Monkey' albums. I have been searching the internets for 2 entire months looking for music which has a similar feel to these albums. Bonobo's newer albums (Black Sands and Solid Steel) are not the music which i enjoy. I think the new albums have too much vocals and the tempo is too high. The reason I love most of his old albums is the fact that there are little or no vocals. I have found quantic and and amon tobin. but it feels as though these people are so commercialised as are bonobo's newer albums. Dont mean to be ugly but i dont like that pussy emotional spiritual music. I have researched NinjaTune and there artists and i find most of the music to have too much rap/hip-hop gangsters saying some stupid stuff. no offence to the music. I understand that i am rambling here but i am really desperate for new music. I'm from South Africa and when i speak obout this type of music to people they have very little idea of what i am talking about. If there is somebody out there, anybody, i will be scanning music banter in the hope that you have the light to bring me the xmas present i deserve after slaving away the whole year.

Bonobo - Ketto - YouTube
Bonobo - The Fever - YouTube
(cant post links, noob)

Those are two good songs from said artist.

Thanks to anybody willing to reply to my repartee.

You should place this in the Electronic recommendation thread, but Thievery Corporation, Mechanical Me, Pilote, Four Tet, Emancipator, Tobacco and Super Numeri MIGHT be up your street. You seem quite specific in your request though so I'm not promising anything.
