Users cited the decreasing number of applications supporting scrobbling, as well as CBS Corp (Last.fm's parent company)'s recorded a loss of £2.1 million ($3.4 million) in 2013 for their Last.fm division.

Still, Last.fm remains the longest-standing global music analytics engine (as demonstrated by this very thread which began in 2004.)

The data visualization plugins are fantastic and the recommendation tools provide a great service to the listening community.

Personally, I'm still dreaming of an IMPORT plugin which can add all the tracks from my digital library in one fell swoop. (I'll keep dreaming!)

Where does MusicBanter stand on the question of its longevity?
I'm still hoping last.fm will integrate with Spotify. People I know in real life use Spotify all day long, but none of them use last.fm. You can't communicate with people on Spotify except via private messages. I would love to be able to post on people's profiles on Spotify, like or comment on what they listen to that appears in the feed, etc. I think everything last.fm does could be integrated with last.fm, as long as there would still be support for scrobbling things listened to elsewhere, like iTunes.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
