^^ Nice. I've never seen them but I'd imagine it would be a good show.

As a whole, it really complemented when I saw them in LA last year because then they played (almost) all of Heritage, and then The Grand Conjuration, Windowpane, and Demon of the Fall. Mikael was in a much better mood this time though, doing the usual stage banter he's so well-known for. Some drunk guy kept yelling "Mikael jeg elsker dig!" (Mikael I love you!) and he eventually responded, "Copenhagen.... have you been drinking? Aren't you supposed to be at work tomorrow?"

He also asked for a crowd vote: "Who do you love more: Opeth, or ABBA?... Whoah, that was close. It's ABBA, of course." Just a really cool guy.
I saw them on that Heritage tour too and loved it. It was my first Opeth gig, so now of course I want to see them do the heavy stuff, and that set-list looks fantastic! They are touring here but not in my neck of the woods this time around.

I got them!!! Tickets to see the Foals next week in one of my favourite venues too. Cost me a bomb though. I ended up paying over £70 for a pair of tickets that would have only cost me £30 if I had known of them playing but well worth it. As I have posted before, my eldest son loves them and hasn't been to a gig yet so to take him to see the band as his first gig is something quite special for me especially as it's so close to the 1st anniversary of his mothers passing.

I was determined to get the tickets and knowing we will watch the band together seems like some sort of odd catharsis for us both (I hope). We will get drunk, dance around, forget ourselves for a couple of hours and hopefully have some great memories to fall back on.
That sounds great Lee. I'm glad you got them.

I'm hoping to attend a gig on Saturday at one of Newcastles venues I have never been to and am most excited to go to - Morden Tower. Not exactly your conventional venue. It is known as a local literary landmark and has historically been used to host poetry readings. While it still does, it offers its services to our local music scene and, as seen as it doesnt have a bar, invites people to bring their own booze.

I'm going to see a local stoner metal band called Druganaut who recently took my face off at a gig in Sunderland, an Edinburgh based band called Lords of Bastard and a friends band who I have yet to see, called Corpse Twitcher.

I just hope I can make it along.

I just got my sigur ros tickets in the mail yesterday for April >.<

But there's this minneapolis hip-hop collective called Doomtree that hosts an annual "Doomtree Blowout" - which means about seven people on stage jamming out to songs from their own albums that feature each other, as well as tracks from releases written by the whole group. I have no idea what to expect, but it should be a blast.

Last night saw Leonard Cohen ... a three hour concert (excluding intermission). Very moving. He's 78 now... At the beginning he said, "I'll give you everything", and he didn't lie. Great show.

Today bought tickets for a Sigur Ros gig in March. I anticipate it be a blast Thanks, Zebras, your post prompted me to go online and check Sigur Ros tour dates & venues!

Orbital at the Brixton Academy next Friday for me. Then Eels lined up in March next year (same venue).

SO EXCITED. First big North american tour since before their hiatus in 08. I got to see them at Lollapalooza this year, and they were excellent, but the daytime hot-summer venue seemed a little out-of-place.

My next gig is one I'm very much looking forward to.

GNAW (Great Northern Amplifier Worship) Festival - Star & Shadow cinema. Byker, Newcastle.

Jackal-Headed Guard of the Dead
Scottish Bongzilla-esque, riffy doom.

Druganaut
Local stoner metal band who recently did severe damage to my ear drums.

Waheela
Local noise rock/metal band. Imagine riffy, feedback-worshipping, loud, trippy noise rock with ****ing screams over the top. Fantastic live band.

Tide of Iron
Local, loud, riffing, noise(core) band.

Transylvanian Sex Pest
One of my mates projects. Noise/electronic act that usually play in darkness, in masks, and scare the **** out of everyone in attendance.

If I ever move to Scotland I am going to shows with Mojo, one killer show after another.
