Bullet For My Valentine - Temper Temper

Gave this a thorough listen today. Really wasn't sure what I was expecting since I haven't listened to BFMV in a long time. Some of the songs are pretty good, and the Tears Don't Fall Part 2 is a pretty cool addition, but there's really nothing that stands out that is really worth mentioning, just another typical BFMV album.

Sunset Rubdown - Shut Up I Am Dreaming (2006)
This is the first thing I've listened to by Sunset Rubdown. I've never known much about them but recently became interested while browsing Jagjaguwar's catalog. I decided to listen to this album first even though it's on a different label. I learned that they're fronted by Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade - a band I was never really a fan of. I also recently heard an album by his Moonface project (With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery) which I really enjoyed. I like this album, much more than Wolf Parade's debut which is the only one I've heard. I'll have to check out Sunset Rubdown's other releases. Lots of prog elements mixed with indie rock.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

And how good is the guitar solos on the last track? Air guitar every single time.

Just started listening to this...

Beams - Matthew Dear

Funky, synth indie singer-songwriter. I dig.

I was expecting this to be shit too after hearing 'Closer' a couple of months ago, surprisingly it's not a bad pop album. If you're looking for another album like The Con or So Jealous you will obviously be disappointed, but if you are looking for some great hooks you will find plenty here. The loudness wars mastering can be a bit grating though.

New album Echo Street out at the end of March

Downloading this bad boy...

It's hard not to have high expectations, cause usually when I do, they get shot down from disappointment, but I have high hopes for this record. I really hope it's pretty decent.

Neckle Camp - Straight Necklin'

Golden age Grime with quality control; no poor tracks on here. The production is on point; pots and pans style drums, warped bass and the rhymes are a mix of succinct and skippy but they're all catchy. They're not really saying anything that clever, but what they are doing, they're doing very well. A definite classic from a genre where you can count the good albums on one hand.

After hearing some samples on another forum on a discussion of "The New Wave Of Traditional Heavy Metal," (NWOATM), I downloaded 3 albums by White Wizzard from iTunes:

Over The Top

Flying Tigers

High Speed GTO

Great stuff, enjoying them quite a bit!

I just downloaded Empire of the Sun's Walking on a Dream, and it's great! I wish they had more recent stuff out.
