Agreed. Half the time people won't even know what they're dancing or nodding along to. "Oh you know that one with the girl? It's in the charts. Goes bah-bah-bah-da-da-da. Ah you must know it!"

I can't vouch for every song by those bands did, like if they made albums with hits and filler, but occasionally they would belt out a song I could relate to.

Agree on the others but I love Blur, mainly for the later stuff. Their 97 self-titled album and 13 are both masterpieces. They're pleasant Kinks impersonators on their early albums.

Yep, I do like that one. That video is perfect too. I'd love to see it as a wedding first dance song. Them being lumped in with the boring "dad rock" bands from the same era was a media construct.

Blur and obviously those first two Oasis records were what the Brit pop explosion was good for. The rest was shite I agree.

All these goofy kids dancing to "all my friend's are dead" party to a break up song where Lil Uzi Vert talks about killing himself. I'm not gonna lie though, that song is fire and I can obviously relate. Plus his name sounds like Lucifer, of course Lucem Ferre is down with that.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Art Is Dead. Buy My ****.

They just want something on in the background, something to dance to, something to "rock out" to. The music serves them in some way, like TV. It passes the time, it keeps them occupied. But they don't love music for what it is. It's often nothing more than background filler.

And there's nothing wrong with that. It's just the way they are, and no amount of pleading with them will change the way they use music.
To be fare there's also a flip side where people will like something weird or experimental out of the sheer novelty of it being different rather than just enjoying music. Personally I just like what I like regardless of how strange and obscure or poppy and predictable the music is.

Honestly, there are few Blur songs I can stand, but this one is sweet.
