But those genres do those other things better too soooooooo yeah.
I guess my perspective is different because I'm a punk DJ in Austin, but no way basically

If you talk to Nita Strauss, she would tell you that's way better than having sweaty boxers thrown on stage.

I know. There's nothing worse than having Muhammed Ali, Evander Holyfield and that sort of person being constantly thrown at you.

Especially the Wilson ballads (In My Room, Don't Worry Baby, Warmth of the Sun, etc.). Mike Love was just a frat boy rocker though.

It's not, but it's freaking unbelievably amazing nevertheless

I like the mostly instrumental stuff like Stoked, which is just ..surf rock, albeit, really well done

I don't care about the whole melody/harmony vocal schtick, in fact, it turned me off from checking out surf

most of the genre is about groovy licks and innovations in reverb

Beach Boys ceased to be surf rock as soon as Brian learned how to write really good songs without ripping off Chuck Berry (so around 63/64), you could call it "vocal surf" or "surf pop" or whatever but I wouldn't call it surf rock which I've always thought of as a mostly instrumental guitar driven genre.

Their first single Surfin' is so dull and dated even for 1962, they never would have gone anywhere if they kept sounding like that.
