It was a melting pot (what hasn't been during the last 20 years?), but I insist on that the very essence of britpop has its roots in the 60's. I wonder if Oasis would have been better had they formed 30 years earlier?

I'm not familiar with those other bands but I've never thought of Super Furry Animals as britpop.

Gorky's Zygotic Mynci (Psychotic Monkey) is from the same scene as SFA. I wouldn't call them "Brit-pop" either, they're more modern Welsh psyche.

Doesn't almost every band? I'm not sure why Oasis get a harder time for having musical influences than everyone else.

It's all an act.

Some people (probably most of us) are in it for the music only. Some fans are in it for the whole rock & roll scene, including costume, and attitude. Oasis are cleverly capitalising on that.

britpop isn't really a genre imo, none of the bands sound like the others. It's just an era.

You're right every artist/band/musician/performer "begs, borrows or steals" (as Keith Richards would say.) I guess it's a gamble, borrowing heavily from bands that are/were major influences, it could go either way though, a band could possibly sound like a crappy copy, or they can be hailed as the next Beatles, well in the case of Oasis the latter was how music critiques seen them. I never mind Oasis' fame or critical acclaim or overexposure on the radio, they had/have some good songs.
