I don’t know if this opinion has been stated or not, and I don’t even know whether it’s at all unpopular, or not. I do know that some people think I’m an uncultured swine for this, but I don’t care, I know what I like and don’t like. I don’t like Tchaikovsky’s music. Most of it, anyway.

I find his music to be overly dramatic, “big” and yet feeling shallow, uand just ... ugh. His Piano Concerto No. 1 is by far the worst. Melodrama and glitter, no depth. Some people absolutely love it, but I honestly cannot stomach it. Just my opinion.

I do like his Seasons composition, and some of his valses, though.
At his worst it does suffer from some of the boring excesses of the romantic period. It’s sort of reminds me of where popular film is at right now: too showy.

So I guess I win. Slanderous or not Led Zeppelin is great and there is nothing you can do about it now. You're banned. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Even Tchaikovsky didn't like Tchaikovsky especially around Christmas time when they dig out the ol' Nutcracker and he was forced to hear his own composition.

Is that the one in B Flat Minor? Wow, you just unloaded a whopper of an opinion there. I don't think it's that bad. I really like the strings in the beginning, but the piano part reminds me too much of Liberace. I mean like if Tchaikovsky had a time machine and saw Liberace play piano, he would travel back in time and scrap the piano part.

It's about discovering what you like which could go both ways.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Taste is a social construct and therefore cannot be "acquired".

I only listen to minstrel shows set in watermelon patches and gangsta rap where black people brag about killing each other.
