Especially the Wilson ballads (In My Room, Don't Worry Baby, Warmth of the Sun, etc.). Mike Love was just a frat boy rocker though.

It's not, but it's freaking unbelievably amazing nevertheless

Beach Boys ceased to be surf rock as soon as Brian learned how to write really good songs without ripping off Chuck Berry (so around 63/64), you could call it "vocal surf" or "surf pop" or whatever but I wouldn't call it surf rock which I've always thought of as a mostly instrumental guitar driven genre.

Their first single Surfin' is so dull and dated even for 1962, they never would have gone anywhere if they kept sounding like that.

You make a good point, Queen Bee. Would you believe Jan and Dean were actually considered surf rock circa 1963/1964? They had a lower threshold in those days.

Remember that one time, when they met Batman and Robin... that was great.

Without a doubt. The Beach Boys practically worshipped the guy.

I think she was referring to the Surfin' USA situation

Miles Davis probably has the most consistently amazing discography of any musician or artist ever

I don't see that as being unpopular.

Is this popular?
