Paul Simon is the greatest songwriter of all time? He isn't even the greatest songwriter of his time.

He's written songs from almost every genre, he's clearly one of the top5 lyricists ever, and is a musical genius. He's an excellent acoustic guitarist as well.

All you need is two chords and an average voice.

He uses a variety of instruments, and more than two chords. His voice has no bearing on how good of a songwriter he is. The Dangling Conversation>Your favorite song

People with much more simplistic approaches have been better songwriters. That's what I was getting at.

Ah, I see. But your wrong. There are no better songwriters. And you can't exactly complain about his work being pretentious and overly complex.

Considering this is an Opinion thread (an openly unpopular one at that) There is no wrong, but just for arguments sake..... Bowie's better!!!

So? Prince has written songs for tons of genre i'm not going to go praise him and there are several better lyricists then him. Bob Dylan, Vashti Bunyan, Nick Drake, who is also a better guitar player. Paul Simon is extremely overrated. I stand by their being plenty of better songwriters then him.
