I like Alan Parsons Project too .. The debut "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" is my favourite from them.

I find guitarists to be the most irritating music fans.

Maybe it's because their judgement on what is good is clouded by what they can play or aspire to play , maybe it's because it's also clouded by technique and ability rather than the whole package.

Plus I find a lot of them have a superiority complex and think because they know how to play 3 chords or whatever that automatically makes their opinion more informed.

Probably so, but music fans in general aren't very good musicians.

There are a few exceptions of course but for the most part musicians seem to find it easier to find their own voice by playing their own music rather than trying to immerse themselves in music made by others.
