Two musicians blessed by an angel:

John Martyn (who has now lost part of his foot due to bodily neglect) and Danny Thompson (probably the finest exponent of double bass playing alive today). This was commited to vinyl way back in 1973 and is an eulogy for Nick Drake. A personal friend of Martyn. Thompson's playing is jawdropping.

Michael Blazary (Flea) n my opinion is the best. Not necessarily the fastest or most technical, but most creative and one of the most interesting slap bassists

(check out his 2 episode show with chad smith, its them jamming, and you will like it

Wow, I didn't know his name either, but I put in a vote for Jamerson. I love his funky, groovy, playing on Marvin's 'What's Goin' On'. Awesome album.

Other fav's: Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Geezer Butler, John Paul Jones, Flea.
