You don't have a point, you keep changing it and switching up your opinion everytime someone replies hoping to counter them. I don't know why I bother arguing with you, you're either doing it for the sake of arguing or trolling.

Who says they can't get signed ?

If you are working with an independent where you know the people and can operate at a level that you are happy with and where you have total control over your music why would you want to sign for one?

Record companies make a profit , they don't care if it's with catchy hooks or unlistenable rubbish they'll put out whatever sells.

Then why would MCA try to sign Black Flag
Why were Epic after Bad Brains for years
Do you really think that after 15/20 or so years of being successful on Dischord Fugazi didn't attract any major label interest?
Why have Mogwai been turning down majors for years?

If it sells record companies are interested ...end of.

I never denied that. I just said Hardcore and Post Rock weren't very poular. I also agree that there are exceptions, quite a few in fact. But for every band that wouldn't sign to a major label, there are 100 that would.

It's not the case that they are exceptions because they're not , it's practical business sense.

If you can find an popular independent band that sells maybe 200,000 - 300,000 then you have virtually that many sales guaranteed you budget to sell that many albums and if & when they do you make a healthy profit , anything more than that is a bonus.

Compare that to making up your own boyband spending huge amounts of money on advertising to make them known , because you'll need it with them having no audience , throw in a load of songwriters , choreographers , stylists , producers that all need paying and then you hope you sell a couple of million albums to break even.

Sure if it does take off you get the bigger return but the first option is the less risky.

You were just saying every band would jump at the chance to sign to a major label if they say otherwise then they're lying. How aren't you changing points? This is exactly what i'm talking about.

I'm not saying everyone of them is lying, but most are. That's been my point all along.
