I dissagree, i think there sound did change. Not only that but vocal harmonies got much better.

The Twilight Sad - Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters

It's the only debut album I've heard this year... and it's quite a good one.

They were always at least somewhat of a political band. If anything, they became less political on their later albums.

I will agree the harmonies got much better, but I don't think the overall sound changed.

Yes, but they chose to become popular because they wanted to spread their political message, at least that is what I think.

What I mean is that the people liked the sound of the album Toxicity so SOAD just kept the same sound so that people would keep listening to their political message.
