Die Festung by Paysage d'Hiver

its cold as fuck here and this is one of my absolute favorite albums of any kind. who knew freezing to death could be such bliss. don't sleep on this one, kiddos you need this one in your horrible awful lives

I have to admit that I've probably never listened to any of his albums besides the self-titled.
Is this one as awesome?

different beasts but yes most definitely. This one is solely an ambient album.

I have a difficult time picking a favorite of his bm albums - Schattengang, Nacht, Winterkalte and Paysage d'Hiver are all so god damn good. But Die Festung would be high on my list all time favorite albums (if such a list was possible for me) so it takes the cake for the best of the bunch imo

this is one of the most musically varied/experimental and I love it a lot

Einsamkeit is my fav for ambient

if Filosofem were recorded in the late 60s/early 70s, it'd be this. Plus long form guitar suites so fuzzy they often slip into bouts of Sonic Youthy indiscernible noise. Simplistic drum patterns and basslines pound away while these supremely distorted guitars buzzsaw all kinds of sickness.

Kansas - Drastic Measures (1983)

A lot of people **** on Kansas once the 80's came around, but this record was an excellent slice of New Wave / Power Pop / AOR crossover. John Elefante is the best vocalist the band has ever had and some songs are straight up brilliant ('Mainstream', 'Everybody's My Friend').

Overkill - The Grinding Wheel (2017)

A lengthier release than what I usually expect out of these stalwarts, but at times they come very close to classics like Under The Influence. Overall, good modern thrash.
