back in the early 2000's these guys here were ready to blow. they never did and almost vanished after it (a handful of guest appearances, a couple singles, a live album and then nothing until a reunion-album 10+ years later when none cared.

but this here is an absolutely great album, kinda ahead of its time. its el-p produced (same era as fantastic damage) and with great mc-ing by both of them. here's a sample if you care to give it a try

Opinions on the new King Gizzard? I am digging it, but I don't think it's anywhere near the level of their best stuff. Only four really good songs and the rest is meh.

They take boogie rock in some interesting directions but apart from that it's painfully uninteresting.

I think we're saying the same thing. You talking about everything from Plastic Boogie to This Thing. Those were the only tracks I really liked. The rest was meh at best.

Nah, I think it's an interesting direction but the songs don't really offer anything beyond that. I wouldn't call anything on the album good tbh. Wouldn't call any of it directly bad either. It's all just kind of middling once you look past the novelty of the genre exploration.

I feel this way about most of their work tbh, would love to see them live one day though, I bet they excel there.
