It's been like spending a few days with an old friend I haven't seen in years. I love this album. Aside from the well-known and epic "Echoes," I dig all the songs. I especially love track sequence. My favorite is "San Tropez". It's a lighter song off this somewhat heavy album, but it makes me think of cheesy scenarios like falling in love with a girl while you watch her eat a ripe peach. Yeah, I know. Cheesy as fuck. And what.

Listening to and absolutely LOVING 10,000 Days by Tool... I've had this album for ages and liked it, but it never really clicked like their previous stuff has.... but tonight it feels like all the pieces of this jigsaw are coming together and I am finally seeing the big picture of how truly amazing this album is... seriously, as of tonight I can't find a weak spot on it!

It is a great album, but definitely took some time to grow. Rosetta Stoned is awesome.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Having a bit of a Foo Fighters night tonight... just listened to Skin and Bones, which I picked up the other day, now listening to Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace...a really solid, great album, which I believe to be up there with their best!

Well, duh Do like any of Tool's earlier albums like Aenima or Lateralus? Personally, I prefer those to 10,000 days.

I was pretty obsessed with Lateralus... believe it or not, that album totally centred me during what was a pretty turbulent year... and who doesn't love Aenema... a modern classic! Tool are definitely within the circle of my most valued / treasured bands, thats for sure!

For me, overall, Lateralus>10,000 Days>Aenima. The separation between the three is incredibly tiny though. Lateralus is just a sonic assault, with tracks that almost effortlessly seem to hypnotize and then steadily hammer themselves into your mind. The transitions are perfect and I think the album just flows so well, even with the abrasive Ticks & Leeches. Disposition/Reflection/Triad is the greatest end to an album I've ever heard. 10,000 Days is great because it's a much more personal album, and the band was able to retain their same power from Lateralus while moving on from talking about Saturn and mathematical sequences. The cold, almost robotic nature of Lateralus that makes it stand out so well in my mind is gone, but 10,000 Days stands out almost for the complete opposite reason. Aenima is a fantastic record and laid the groundwork for Lateralus and 10,000 Days, and Pu**** and Eulogy are right up there in terms of my favorite individual songs.

I actually agree with most of what you've said It's funny how you say that Lateralus flows well; when I was younger I was completely obsessed with Tool's use of the Fibonacci sequence in that album, and I read that thing about how when you rearrange the tracks into a different order they all flow perfectly.Like, the random pluckings at the start of Schism end up to actually be the finishing chords of Parabola. It was a pretty neat discovery and I enjoyed listening to that particular flow.
