Maybe it's just the people I know in person. When I mention The Beach Boys as being a really good band, they think that is weird. They just think of "Surfin' USA" and other poppy songs and probably never heard anything from Pet Sounds, which is artistically brilliant.

They are like Steven Spielberg or something, highly recognized but not given the "artistic" credits they deserve. That's what I meant I guess.

...

Rolling Stone put that album as something ridiculous on their list of 500 Greatest Albums Ever.

The Beach Boys are one of the most overrated acts ever, with one, ONE good album to their name (the aforementioned). There are idiots that compare them to The Beatles and try to justify it by screaming about Brian Wilson's collective genius. Critics run in circles with their thumbs up their asses trying to suck Brian's and Dennis's withered phalli at every chance they get. I'm TIRED of the veiled references to The Beatles, I'm TIRED of the goddamn Kennedy Center nominations, and I'm TIRED of the fucking music nazis rubbing their heads in the steaming pile of shit that was The Beach Boys.

The Beach Boys made some listenable tracks but I never have understood the critics fascination with Pet Sounds. Sure there are some nice passages of music and it is well produced but there were far better American bands around at the time making far more interesting music.

To each his own I suppose. Rolling Stone really isn't a good gauge though, in order to write for Rolling Stone these days you have to be a douche bag so I hear. When they did their "Immortals" list of the top 50 bands/artists, they left out Pink Floyd but put in Madonna.

I have had this Post/Math Rock album for a while and today is the day I have put it on for the first time in a while. Some superb passages.

One of the U.K's best new wave/pop bands. Simple as that. Get listening.

I have a soft spot for Yes and this got a blast today. Not one of their finest but good enough!

I swear this album get's better every time you hear it. Nearly 10 years old and it has'nt aged a day.

Underrated, what are you talking about? That album is among the most overrated albums of the 60s, IMO.
