Bulldog! Been meaning to ask you for a while, best Elvis Costello album(s) to start with? He has too many and I can't pick one

Yeah, he's been hella prolific down the years. As it happens, I'm making a beginner's guide mix for him as I type this, but there are four albums of his I'd call wall-to-wall, 10/10 classics myself;

Get Happy
Trust
Imperial Bedroom
Spike

And plenty more perfectly good albums as well. It's probably best to work your way towards those four by getting hold of My Aim Is True, This Year's Model or Armed Forces first though, particularly regarding the bottom two (which are pretty difficult albums).

Needless to say, if you have any trouble finding any albums, just give us a shout and I'll see what I can arrange!

I knew you'd come up with the goods I just hope I take to him, I don't really know what his sound is. I just heard 'pub rock' not entirely sure what that means. It just reminds me of lad rock.. pub rock = drunken sing-alongs?

Get Happy, Trust, Imperial Bedroom, Spike.. Hmm decisions decisions!

I guess his earliest stuff sounds a little bit like pub rock. Not much so though. If you wanna start with any of those four albums, I say go for Trust or Get Happy first. The other two are a bit much for the first-timer.

I'll PM you a link to get you started fairly shortly...

I went for Trust, second track in. Thanks but I'm listening to them on Spotify so I won't need a link, unless I decide I really like and then I'll get some of his stuff into my iTunes.

Envy - A Dead Sinking Story

Unbelievable & well-blended post-rock/screamo this time around.

Same here, luckily no one was around.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
