It's pretty fucking good, one of the best albums I've heard in a while.

The Vowels Pt. 2 <3
The Hollows <3
Song of the Sad Assassin <3

Ok upbeat was the wrong word. Not angry or depressing. More cheerful/lively than what I tend to gravitate towards.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Judging from repeated listens of "The Hollows", Why? is quite depressing lol

Well fuck! Whatever, the overall sound, disregarding any lyrics, is lively by my standards.

Celibate Rifles - The Turgid Miasma of Existence

This is just a great straightforward Australian punk album. It mystifies me how a band like the Celibate Rifles can be largely unknown.

Fairport Convention - What We Did on Our Holidays

I know this album is meat and potatoes British folk but it still blows me away with its mixture of originals, great covers and reworkings of traditional folk. And Tale in Hard Time is amazing.

You and me both. They didn't exactly muck about with the formula a lot, but they're certainly the most consistent Aussie punk band I've heard. It's between Spaceman In a Satin Suit and Sideroxylon for my pick of the bunch.

over the last few days:

Fang - Landshark/Where The Wild Things Are
Neu! - Neu! 75
Captain Beefheart & his Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica
Henry Cow - Legend
Flying Saucer Attack - Further

was already a big fan of all these, except Henry Cow who have grown on me big time this week. Legend is such a quality album, I'll need to hear Unrest now.

First time I've listened to Fang for ages, they're still one of my favourite 80s punk/hardcore bands. That's such a messy, grimy record, but with loadsa great riffs and funny lyrics... just what I want from an 80s hardcore album!
