Fantastic stuff! It feels sort of "down" and somewhat dark. Definitely not an upbeat or happy album. Well, to my ears anyway. I love the overall feeling of it. I recommendeded it!

Lissie - Catching a Tiger

Besides a lull in the middle of it, this is a pretty good folk-rock album, and certainly nowhere near as dull as a lot of other modern takes on the genre I've heard are. Even if it's a bit too long for its own good, an impressive debut - the lass is definitely one for the future.

Sunken Foal - Fallen Arches

Such a beautifully organic electronic and acoustic album. The man behind Sunken Foal is part of the duo known as Ambulance, whose 2003 album Curse of Vale Do Lobo has been one of my favorite discoveries this year. I'll let the label speak for it:

Slint - Slint EP (1994)

Who cares if it's only two songs and like thirteen minutes, the EP is a shining example of everything I like. Heavy, well crafted, and not boring. The last point is one I like to hold up very high, because while I am not some Ritalin popping person who cannot function if music isn't loud and energetic, when I see the term "Rock" attached to a genre I don't think it's farfetched of me to think the album might actually "rock out" at some point. If Slint is one of the biggest influences on the Post-Rock genre then why is it nearly every album I've listened to that has come out in the last ten years has nearly put me to sleep for being so boring? Kudos to Slint for not thinking that the term "Rock" was completely optional.

Om-Conference Of The Birds
Awesome album from ex bassist and ex drummer of Sleep. Very bass and drum heavy making the album very powerful. Amazing album.

Bjork-Vespertine
Often the overlooked album of Bjork's holy trinity which is stupid as it's probably my favourite. Vespertine is a beautiful album that leaves me drifting off to a fantasy fairytale world.

Half Man Half Biscuit-Back In the DHSS
Half Man Half Biscuit are one of the few bands who can blend hilarious lyrics with good music.His songs are impressive but funny at the same time and this is his most accompliished album.

Tall Dwarves-3 EPs
The household indie pop of Tall Dwarves is always enjoyable(although imo Toy Love are better)and this collection of EPs is great. One of those albums that's so good you don't notice the bad production.

Sort of... I dunno. Bluesy/folky post-rock? It's music that smells like fall, feels like wet leaves and tastes like strong tea.

Yes, these guys sing about roleplaying games, but holy crap is this music good! Heavy as hell by today's standards, I can't imagine what I would've thought of it if I heard it back in 88.

Seen them around 4 times

Still one of the lesser regarded bands of the genre. Cerebral Fix kicked their arse but only made 2 albums that never got decent exposure
